Darby Extend-A-Truck Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2013 Chevrolet Silverado

Today on our 2013 Chevrolet Silverado, we're going to be taking a look at the Darby Hitch Mounted Load Extender, part number DTA944. Now if you've ever hauled with your truck, I'm sure most of us have been in the situation where we either needed to carry a ladder, some lumber, or maybe even some drywall, and for us those that don't have eight-foot beds, and with most of the load sticking out, it is a little bit unsafe and using the extender is going to be able to give you a spot to tie your load down and make everything more secure. On each end of our extender we're going to have one tie-down point. That way no matter what we are carrying, it's going to be able to secure it down. Now here, with the included pin and clip, we can make our adjustments, so if you need your load to be angled down into your bed, you can raise it up, or if you need it at level, you can lower it down to make it level so your load sits how you want it to. Now our extender is going to work with 2-inch hitches, and it does also include the pin and clip for your hitch. Now our extended truck is going to give us 49" of extra load carrying capability. On the end here, we're going to be able to put all of our loads and anything else we need to carry for up to 4-feet wide. Now our extended truck is going to be able to hold and withstand up to 350-pounds of weight. more

We already have it in our hitch and at one of our positions. We'll first go over this and then we'll show you the second position. What's great about this position is that it is even with your cab of your truck so if you wanted to carry anything, maybe on some cross bars or even on your cab you could line it up with the top of our Extend-A Truck and lay anything across that. Maybe you have some PVC pipe or a kayak or any type of lumber that's longer that you could just set up there. We also have different mounting points for different levels. If you did have cross bars up there and they we're a little higher we could shift this up just a bit to fit with that. more

Darby Extend A Truck Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Silverado Crewcab, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Darby Extend-A-Truck hitch-mounted load extender. This is going to be part number DTA944. As you can see, it's going to be fully adjustable, 1-1/2" each pin hole, so a total of 9-1/2" in either direction. We can drop it down to meet up with the lower headache rack or up above to meet up with our roof rack that you see on there now, or it will collapse. This part, you'll collapse it down and then reverse it, and it will actually extend out on the outside so you can put down your tailgate and extend your load outwards if you want to keep it all in the bed of your truck. We'll go through how all of that works, but we wanted to show you how the ladder looks up on top and always make sure that you secure it down using your straps or ties or rope or whatever, what have you. You can get straps and all that on our website if you'd like at etrailer.com. Let's go ahead and get the straps off, and then, we'll break it down and show you how everything works. more
